Ruth Maier's Diary

Ruth began writing her diary when she was twelve years old. Her close friend, Gunvor Hofmo, kept the notes for fifty years. The letters Ruth Maier sent from Norway were preserved by her sister Judith in England. Based on eight notebooks of the diary and fifty letters, Jan Erik Vold created a captivating life story, which is the most comprehensive literary document in Norway about a Jewish individual during World War II.

The Diary of Ruth Maier garnered considerable attention upon its release in 2007, and its rights were sold to eleven countries. The Czech Republic is now the twelfth country where the translation of the Norwegian original is published. Translated from Norwegian by Kateřina Krištůfková, the book was released in January 2021 by Albatros publishing house.
